Knoxville Daily Photo will post one photo per day taken from the Knoxville/Knox County, Tennessee area. Knoxville is the city of my birth, the place where I work, and the largest city near our hometown. It's a wonderful community in which to raise our family. It's really a beautiful place . . . . at least I think so.

I am not a professional photographer; I call myself a point & shoot photographer. I have had a genuine love for and interest in photography since childhood. My camera is a Nikon Coolpix S600 ~ which I love for many reasons that I won't list here. Sometimes I use my old camera which is a Nikon Coolpix 5900.

Photography is something that I enjoy immensely. My photographs & albums are treasured above all other material things I own. The memories that are captured and preserved through my camera are so precious.

I am glad that I have discovered City Daily Photo and started a photo blog. It's an honor to share my little corner of the world with those who find themselves here. Enjoy looking around my blog, and welcome to all who visit.

Slide Time in Fountain City

This photo brings back some memories of mine. First, the slide is made from metal and when I was her age, bread came to stores wrapped up in a wax paper wrapping. We could use that wax paper to wrap our sandwiches in that we carried to school in our lunch bucket. After we ate lunch we used that wax paper to sit on and slide down the metal slide. That coated the slide with some wax and the next people to slide down would actually go down so fast they would fly off the end. It was a marvelous way to use the bread wrappers for fun.

Amazing how one photograph like this brings back old memories from around 1941.

The photograph is beautiful just to look at and she has on some really nice, sparkle-coated shoes. I hope they survived the slide. And she is a real beautiful young lady too.

Cool, an old metal slide! You never see those anymore! Love her sparkly shoes :)

I played on these very same slides when I was a child....and that was many years ago!

I'm glad that Fountain City Park has left them there. Even the metals steps on the ladder of the slide have been worn smooth by all the years of climbing by children.

The old metals slides are really the best aren't they! You can really get some speed on that downward slide!

Thanks for the kind comments! My daughter loves her sparkly shoes...and wears them often. I let her wear them even at the playground. The shoes make her happy and that makes me happy, too!

I spotted the sparkly shoes right away too. What a happy look she has on her face.

In Poland you can still see metal slides (at least I was convinced you can, but I'll check it out). This whole series of pictures with children is amazing.

I agree, this is an amazing series. You capture the exuberance of childhood so beautifully.

Oh, and I just noticed she is wearing the same kind of sparkly princess shoes my daughter has. :-)
