Knoxville Daily Photo will post one photo per day taken from the Knoxville/Knox County, Tennessee area. Knoxville is the city of my birth, the place where I work, and the largest city near our hometown. It's a wonderful community in which to raise our family. It's really a beautiful place . . . . at least I think so.

I am not a professional photographer; I call myself a point & shoot photographer. I have had a genuine love for and interest in photography since childhood. My camera is a Nikon Coolpix S600 ~ which I love for many reasons that I won't list here. Sometimes I use my old camera which is a Nikon Coolpix 5900.

Photography is something that I enjoy immensely. My photographs & albums are treasured above all other material things I own. The memories that are captured and preserved through my camera are so precious.

I am glad that I have discovered City Daily Photo and started a photo blog. It's an honor to share my little corner of the world with those who find themselves here. Enjoy looking around my blog, and welcome to all who visit.

View of Knoxville from Club LeConte

I attended a small luncheon with friends and co-workers yesterday at Club LeConte, a private dining establishment, which is located on the 27th floor of the First Tennessee Bank Plaza Tower. The view from the picture windows of Club LeConte is breathtaking. I was able to take 2 snapshots before we began the luncheon. In this photo you can see the Sunsphere which was the icon of the 1982 World's Fair held in Knoxville. Tomorrow I will post the other photo which will show a view of the Tennessee River.

Lunch at Club LeConte is a rare thing indeed. This was a very special celebration for some friends & coworkers paid for by someone who I once worked with . . . usually I eat Chick-Fil-A sandwishes, Petros, or Lunch Box meals sitting at my desk and looking at my computer screen.

I'm glad I thought to bring along a camera. The photos turned out nice even though I only shot them with a point & shoot camera and I only had seconds in which to grab a snapshot. You can see just a bit of reflection from the interior of the restaurant....but no worries. I especially like the Sunsphere on the Knoxville skyline.

ummmm...that would be Chick-Fil-A sandwiches from the post above (LOL).

Nice! I try to find the highest restaurants whenever I travel, for the photo ops. Around Switzerland where I am, there aren't that many tall buildings, so that's a bit of a pity. :-( On the other hand, what is nice though is that one can walk into almost any restaurant here and order just a cup of coffee and a piece of cake and linger for as long as one wants, without incurring any displeasure from the staff.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog.

Great photos...I love the one of the park swing with the girl high up swinging...and the butterfly photo is beautiful. Love the city photos too, I'm wondering if you ever get any photos of the homeless....

Hope said...

Thanks for stopping by Mary Helen. The girl on the swing is my daughter. And no, I haven't photographed any of the homeless population of Knoxville.

By the way, I like stopping by your blog to see what life is like in Forks, WA....as you know, the setting of The Twilight Saga.

She is a beautiful Daughter Hope,
the reason I was asking about the homeless is because my brother has lived on the streets for 25 years, 4 of those 25 years he has been living in Knoxville. I would love a picture of him, but don't know where he stays. He began drinking when he was 12, right after my Dad died and has never quit.

Nice view. I've been on top of the FirstBank building (at the right of your photo), but the view there isn't nearly as commanding as from the top of the First Tennessee building. 13 stories vs 28, I suppose...

Mary Helen...I am so sorry to hear of your brother's story. Knoxville does have a significant homeless population due to the intersection of 2 major interstates and the rail lines that come through downtown. Our city does have some wonderful missions/shelters such as the Knox Area Rescue Mission and the Salvation Army and so on. I hope your brother is as safe as can be possible. My prayers are with you and him.

My Knoxville....I admit the view from Club LeConte took my breath away. I was stunned at the beauty of our city from this great height. A different perspective, for certain.
