Knoxville Daily Photo will post one photo per day taken from the Knoxville/Knox County, Tennessee area. Knoxville is the city of my birth, the place where I work, and the largest city near our hometown. It's a wonderful community in which to raise our family. It's really a beautiful place . . . . at least I think so.

I am not a professional photographer; I call myself a point & shoot photographer. I have had a genuine love for and interest in photography since childhood. My camera is a Nikon Coolpix S600 ~ which I love for many reasons that I won't list here. Sometimes I use my old camera which is a Nikon Coolpix 5900.

Photography is something that I enjoy immensely. My photographs & albums are treasured above all other material things I own. The memories that are captured and preserved through my camera are so precious.

I am glad that I have discovered City Daily Photo and started a photo blog. It's an honor to share my little corner of the world with those who find themselves here. Enjoy looking around my blog, and welcome to all who visit.

Ijams Nature Center ~ North Cove Trail

Our family loves to explore Ijams Nature Center which is located near downtown Knoxville in the Island Home community at 2915 Island Home Avenue. We especially enjoy hiking along the many trails and finding all sorts of nature discoveries along the way. More information about this wonderful nature center can be found at www.ijams.org.

Quoted from the Ijams Nature Center Trail Map:

"Ijams Nature Center is a member-supported nonprofit environmental education center and 165-acre sanctuary. The park was founded in 1965 on the original home site of H.P. and Alice Ijams who lived at the location for more than 50 years from 1910-1964. Their passion for nature and educating children still lives on in the park today."

This photo was taken while hiking along the North Cove Trail this fall. Husband, son, and daughter walked ahead while I trailed behind snapping photos along the way!

Jim, this park is within a couple minutes drive of downtown Knoxville! Unbelieveable...but it's true! A retreat from all of the noise & bustle. It's located along the Tennessee River on the south-side of Knoxville. We love to visit Ijams!

Outdoor family activity pays dividends for life. Reminds me of walks my children when they were younger. In fact for fathers day last year my request was a family hike.

by the looks of all the leaves on the trail, it appears no one has been there in a while?

Hi! My name is Windy...Great photos!! Myself, my husband, daughter, 4 dogs, a horse and cat are looking to relocate to this area next summer. My in-laws kive in the South East Corner of TN and are going to be relocating up North as well... I was wondering if you have any tips about the North East corner of TN. :)

Ken Mac...Ijams Nature Center is a popular place to visit....but at the same time, there are never droves of people there all at once. It is a very peaceful and serene place.

Windy,

Do you in-laws live in Chattanooga? You say you are moving to the North East area of TN....do you mean the Tri-Cities area near Bristol?

I think your family will love living in Tennessee. I was born and raised in Knoxville and have always lived here my entire life. I am now raising my own family in the same community I grew up in.

The people of Tennessee are very friendly, welcoming, and hospitable. I hope your move here in an easy one and that you and your family grow to love TN and truly call it home. I think the area you will be moving to is just beautiful. You will be surrounded by mountains and ridges. You will be near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park....we love visiting there often!!

Look through my blog if you wish and you may learn a little more about our beautiful state we call Home!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and best wishes to your family.

What a lovely photo. It captures the essence of a forest walk so well. The light coming through the canopy is beautiful.

Hope of Knoxville Daily Photo. Hope can squeeze images out of her Nikon Coolpix that will astonish you. The photographs of her kids capture the essence of childhood and a mother's love with the same poignancy and joy of the paintings of Mary Cassatt..."
